FAT32 or NTFS-USB-Stick for Chansort? #38

First of let me say Chansort is an excellent program. I exported my channel-list from Samsung UE40JU6450 via NTFS-formatted USB-Stick. Editing went fine and also reimport of edited list in TV-set. I now have these channellists: Original Channel_list_THKMDEUC-1452.0 Edited  Channel_list_THKMDEUC-1452.1 Channel_list_THKMDEUC-1452.2 Channel_list_THKMDEUC-1452.3

I saved the channel-lists also on PC. Just for fun I started a new try. When I start Chansort and try to import any list above from PC-file nothing happens. Also no chance trying to import from NTFS-USB-Stick. Now after copying the lists from PC-file to a FAT32-USB-Stick the import worked fine.

What is happening? Since all data on both sticks are the same?

It is a common problem across all TV manufacturers. NTFS is a powerful and complex file system, developed by Microsoft for its Windows operating systems, and not fully documented. TVs typically run on a Linux operating system and the drivers used to read NTFS media are not always working correctly. Therefore I always recommend to use a FAT32 formatted stick, because this simple file system is fully documented and there are no issues with Linux and TVs.

Many thanks for Your answer! But I think there is a little misunderstanding. Thus I renew my innitial question:

  1. Channel_list_THKMDEUC-1452.0 was saved in a PC-File.
  2. Now I open Chansort Program and try to import the upper data from PC-File. "No success"
  3. Then I copy the channel-list from PC-File to a FAT32-USB-Stick "Now I can open the channel-list"
  4. Questions: Chansort cannot open channel-list from PC-File, why not? Chansort opens same PC-File when copied to a FAT32-Stick, why now?
