THIS IS A REVIVED PR (accidentally merged and lost )

this was an enhancement that was kept in a separate branch (ageBimputationFixes) but may be relevant now considering changes to Biomass_borealDataPrep.
Includes two other small changes. Namely the removal of an unused parameter and the use of sppColumns in .createCohortData for a cleaner code.

Although the merge was accidental, it seems that the changes implemented here had been merged already in c247027010ffee50b4f9067cd000983e6d69fcf8. I believe this was because they had been included in that merged branch when it was created -- apologies.
