Results docs #14394

Polishes up docs on result persistence; I think we over-explained things previously, and a few things have changed. My goal is to put a strong foundation in place that is easy to add to / extend as needed. Closes #14334

cc: @taylor-curran as you seem to have a pulse on the confusing points of the previous doc
