could anyone answer me what is imgInstances mean here in this function? how do give as an input?

If you are talking about lib/nyu/get_instance_masks.m, it is a function from the library "NYU Depth V2 Dataset Matlab Toolbox". Please ask the author Nathan Silberman http://cs.nyu.edu/~silberman/
