IP Address Discovery Incorrect #405

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
OHW 0.5.1, Windows XP SP3

In Options > Remote Web Server > Port OHW tells me what IP address to use to
access it. On my machine it simply picks the first local accessible IP address
from my list of several local physical and virtual adapters. The first one
happens to be a virtual VPN endpoint.

I don't know how this works but it should either know which IP to use or just
not bother and give an example.

I can confirm the web server picks the VirtualBox VM Network Adapter. A work
around is to disable the virtual adapter and re-run hardware monitor. The ideal
solution would be adding user choice either in menu or in config file.

it looks like they are binding the server to 0.0.0.0 (for better or worse), so
really, any ip on your machine should respond to the server. its just the UI
that grabs the ip from adapter[0], which for some people is not the "main"
connection
