When pallet files are imported, the Imported Date and Imported Time is already shown in the pallet file header (and on the page). These two fields however specify when the actual import into the system occurred, which may well be on a later date than when the cold store/pack house generated and sent the file.
The date and time when the cold store/pack house generated the file is available in the 'raw' file itself, and we have now made it possible to import and show this File Date and File Time in the pallet file header.
Example use case
A cold store loaded out various trucks for transfer to another depot on Friday 2nd August. The electronic transmission of these files to the receiving cold stores has failed for some reason, and the receiving cold store phones you early on the Saturday morning to request the electronic file so they can take in the pallets.
The files were already imported into your system (ProduceLinc), but was only imported early Saturday morning 3rd August. You need to find the correct files so you can send the raw files to the receiving depot.
To easily find the PO files for loads that dispatched on Friday 2nd August, you can now simply filter pallet file entries on "File Date" as 02/08/2024.
How do you set this up
If you want to import the file's date and time, you must first create the necessary pallet file definition for it and map the appropriate fields in Pallet File Fields
The date and time when the file was generated is typically found in the very first 'header' row of the raw file (batch header).
In my example I have thus created a new file definition with Section Type as Header and "linked" it to the appropriate Parent File Definition Code
I proceeded to map the necessary fields from this header line to the two new fields that are available for import: File Date and File Time
Given the above setup, here's quick demo video for you to see the import of the file date and time in action.
Question: Is it a pre-requisite to now also import the new File Date and File Time with my pallet files?Answer: No, this is completely optional. If visibility of the File Date and File Time is of no particular benefit to your business, you don't need to set this up.
Question: Is the File Date and File Time fields available on pallet lines and in pallet stockAnswer: No, these values are only stored in the pallet file entry itself and does not update to any fields on the pallet lines and stock.
