I don't know if the game struggled to find my resolution, on first launch the game was "fullsreen" off center of the screen at a smaller resolution running off the side of the screen. Selected the proper resolution, then toggled the setting for the fullscreen mode seemed to fix this issue. Relaunching the game and this issue did not occur again.
