Instead of rendering an image for each new mail, the use of iphone-like badges 
displaying the number of new mail would be useful (and being able to affect a 
background to the badge.).

Added basic text class to the mail count plugin. Using this and the existing 
image-based class you can now implement this behaviour using the two classes, 
one overlayed upon the other.
