@jake3030 has been a leading ProgCode volunteer contributor this year, demonstrating extraordinary dedication to the community and its mission by lending his development and video editing expertise to many important projects, including:
working diligently since December 2017 with @sdklos and @rmd6502 to develop ProgBot
editing the 13hr March 2018 Virtual Conference recording into 13 individual videos of each presentation for distribution to presenters
participating in weekly Podcast planning sessions, and
editing podcast videos
Problem
At present, the Operations Staff does not have sufficient time to devote to outreach, promotions and public relations, as staff members are engaged in multiple meetings every day.
Proposed Solution
During the course of discussing future #podcast topics in Slack, Jake expressed interest reaching out to progressive orgs related to the podcast as well as doing general PR on behalf of ProgCode. Adding another volunteer Operations Staff member to help with Podcast outreach and ProgCode promotions would be enormously helpful to existing Operations Staff given our low bandwidth.
Consider whether the community wants to create a standard process and outreach template for Podcasts and promotions.
This proposed solution would require a minor increase in the monthly budgetary allotment for Google Suites. Accordingly, this proposal should comply with the requirements of #198 and #236, as follows:
Proposals seeking consent for implementation of budget requests and/or change process should not contradict ProgCode core objective and should pass this four-pronged test when considered by operations:
Is this proposal non-partisan in nature? Yes
Is this proposal aligned with ProgCode's mission of removing the influence of big money in politics? Yes
Does this proposal seek to empower the grassroots by supporting the creation of open source tech? Yes
Is this proposal sponsored or funded by an outside organization? If yes, the source of the funding must be disclosed. No
Plan
[x] Community discussion of all elements of this proposal at the 9.3.2018 Operations Meeting
[x] Vote for consent to implement the standard change to onboard Jake as a ProgCode Operations Team volunteer staff member
[x] Notify the community of the vote taken by posting a #team-announcement and sharing the video URL in #operations immediately following the 9.3.2018 Operations Meeting to allow additional votes & feedback during the 72 hour waiting period before ratifying the vote
[x] If vote passes, create a Gmail address for jake@progcode.org
[ ] Ops Team creates a standard process and email template for reaching out to potential new ProgCode partners for Podcasts and promotions.
Decision Making
Consent to implement a standard change per the Change Process
