2 years ago Pursuant to the discussion held prior to the vote on this proposal at the 2022.04.04 Community Operations meeting, the staff will explore the possibility of creating a Github Wiki for the Community Guidelines, in addition to maintaining the Google Doc in which they were proposed and adopted.

Explicit norms and moderation processes to create a more welcoming and productive space
Problem
ProgCode #general-chit-chat and even #dumpster-fire has been contentious both recently and in the past. Many have had recent and/or older experiences where the lack of norms or moderation in channels and at meetings has made ProgCode feel like an unwelcoming place – disproportionately impacting non-male and non-white members and would-be members of the community. The current Progressive Coders Network - Community Guidelines and Conflict Resolution Guidelineshave not proved sufficient for a welcoming and inclusive space.
Benefit
Explicit norms and moderation will make it easier for the community to self-regulate itself as well as provide better process for when those norms are broken, so that the community can maintain itself over time.
