We are part of the Civic Tech Lab (www.civictech.us), which is working to revive a community organizing tool, CommonPlace (civictech.us/commonplace), that we think local communities, issue communities, and activist communities need in the age of Trump.
What is CommonPlace: CommonPlace makes it really easy for any organizer to gather big communities (5,000-25,000) in one place online. Set up a CommonPlace for your community (be it "Somerville residents" "Campus Prison Reformers" "Wisconsin Democrats") and your members get (1) a community email bulletin to which anyone can post and reply, mixed with (2) an interactive directory of individual and group profiles.
By making it super easy to get connected online and get stuff done offline, we hope we can be the best tool to turn strangers into neighbors... which we believe is the secret sauce to successful organizing for social, economic, and political progress.
What's Our Story: We've launched betas in a few towns a few years back and it really worked (read about it at: CivicTech.us), but we are reviving it now as an open source non-profit.

We are looking for Rails and React developers who might be interested in helping out!
