I have created an app (called 10Forward) for grassroots progressive volunteers here in Central Florida (a crucial part of the state, voter-wise). The purpose is to create an unprecedented (and sustained) grassroots network of voters in our county, to foster communication, education, and with the endgoal of increasing turnout to elect more dems in future elections.
The main difference between this app and the miniVan app that's being used in campaign work is that this will only show each volunteer 10 unique voters that live near them (not a whole precinct of voters). It fosters greater participation, since the canvassing task is so small, and studies show that GOTV efforts work most effectively when you know the person who is contacting you. Keeping this work within neighborhoods is the most effective way to build a stronger progressive community here.
The app is pretty much done. I have two issues i need assistance with:
Need a script to assign a volunteer their 10 closest neighbors (who haven't already been assigned to someone else). We have a script that looks like it works when it's run manually, but is there a way to automate this somehow? I assume i will need to upload the latitude and longitude address data for each data to make this work...
I have the data in a MySql amazon database. I want to make sure that I've set it up so that it's pretty secure to potential hacking.
If anyone wants to help set up a website, that would be super cool

The details: Our group needs to mobilize Democrats now in order to keep momentum going for the midterm 2018 elections and beyond. For that purpose we’ve created a simple, user friendly app for your smartphone that can help us stay connected around issues that are important to us as communities. It’s called 10Forward.
Each app user gets to meet and greet 10 neighbors that are registered Democrats. We will provide you with a friendly script to break the ice and talk about their concerns. You ask for contact info (e.g. email, phone), and load a few details into the app. While you’re at it, convince at least 2 of those neighbors to connect with 10 additional neighbors using the app.
We use the data to send out calls to action, arrange neighborhood meetings around issues, and create an effective grassroots network of neighbors talking to neighbors about local, state, and national issues. Using this technology we can MOBILIZE like wildfire in time for the 2018 midterm elections!
