7 years ago We're just getting started, thanks for looking at this project.
Key questions:
- Is there a tool that already exists that provides some/all of this? https://votinginfoproject.org/ is similar, but looks at what is on the ballot, not who is already elected.
- What are all the features and functions this tool should do? Beyond just telling people how they can contact state and national reps, can we also direct them to advocacy actions they can take? As in, the key issues the organizational hosting this tool is advocating for vis à vis these lawmakers?
- What should the tech stack be comprised of?

About the group
Display Federal, State and Local elected officials (and their contact information) when entering your address. Functionality served by this page but needs to be de-coupled from the CMS powering that page, hosting it on a micro site and/or separate stack. Update data sources (Google Civic API would be good) and investigate options for additional important contextual data, in particular campaign finance information.
Who we're looking for
UI/UX to define user journeys and wireframe out what this tool will (and won't!) do Data integration: experience with Google Civic API and/or other datasources to pull data in and display it Back-end development to build tool
Tools
Right now this leverages Sunlight Foundation's API plus some other sources. All these are open to change. The CMS currently powering this is Convio, a proprietary CMS. We will want to be able to embed a version of this tool, or otherwise reference it, from within a WordPress site.
