Unfortunately the author abandoned this game. I would also like a fix for this via DirectX 9 or OpenGL 2.1. But that will never happen, well, there is a guy who made some adjustments a few years ago, take a look: https://github.com/ProjectDreamland/game/issues/10
Unfortunately this didn't work on my end due to the Vulkan renderer. Either way, this might be a good option for you. =)
I didn't abandon it per se, I just got access to the full source code and I've been working to find a publisher to remaster the game.

Then I suggest you contact Nightdive Studios. I'm sure they will accept your proposal for a Remake or Remaster. The guys at Nightdive have an engine called "KEX Engine" that will do the work with the source code plus the game's assets. And what's more, Nightdive is specialized in the FPS genre, and they have re-released some very good titles, take a look: https://www.nightdivestudios.com/games
Come on man... The path is clear now, make it happen! And don't forget to release it on GOG. =D
Good luck! ;)
Hello everybody!
I did some tests with the A51 downloaded from here: https://www.moddb.com/games/area-511/downloads/area-51-pc-version
And patch 1.2 was downloaded from here: https://www.patches-scrolls.de/patch/392/7/38411/download
And I can say that dxwrapper took away some of the stuttering in the "briefing" between stages. It's not even close to 100%, but I can say they are watchable. I also want to inform you that Anisotropic Filtering was enabled at 16x and it appears to work.
Anyone interested in testing, unzip the dxwrapper.zip file in the game's root directory, that is, where the executable is located.
I hope this helps you and others who come here from the future. =)
Cheers!
Has anyone else found a fix for this issue? No matter what I've tried nothing works. From reinstalled to other places to get the game and try the updates. Cutscenes still skip and stutter. Not the big cinematic cutscenes just the file ones
The mission introduction monologues that start from 'Hot Zone' onward given by Ethan keep stuttering on me and I haven't been able to get them working. I even tried the PCGamingWiki solution of running the game with a forced single core CPU affinity, but ultimately to no avail. Anyone got any way to fix this issue?
