Axo64: crafting recipe for reverting more than one saddle to leather so for example if i were to put 2 saddles into the crafting table, i would get 8 leather, 3 would give 12, etc

ProjectEdenBot commented 2 years ago

Boffo: I can see how this could save a few seconds, but is a new recipe really needed?

Barza: tbh I think a more convenient idea would just be to make saddles stackable in some degree, like stew now

ProjectEdenBot commented 2 years ago

Barza: maybe up to 16?

ProjectEdenBot commented 2 years ago

Axo64: yeah that could work too

Lexi: i think griffin's comments on a similar suggestion are relevant here Attachment

Lexi: just shift click the saddle into the crafting grid and shift click the leather out

Lexi: some elaboration on this: the primary issue is that, with the way the custom stackable items has been designed, there is no magic button in the code to make items stackable. instead, a brand new fake item has to be created which acts like the real one. to save you a few seconds of crafting, the dev team would have to find all the places where the real item (saddles) can be obtained (loot chests, drops from passive animals, etc), find a way to replace them with the fake item, and then make the fake item work just like the real item (i.e. right clicking on a passive mob should equip the saddle). this all is time-consuming at the very least and complicated/difficult at the most

Barza: hence why I said to 16. I agree though, and I should've mentioned how I don't necessarily agree with making saddles stackable, but it would be a better option than having custom recipes for each amount of saddles

Griffin: 2, 16, 64, doesnt make a difference to the difficulty of the code. completely agree with everything lexi said
