YumiEneka: now before i start i dont actually know if this is possible, so if it isnt i do sincerely apologize for wasting your time
YumiEneka: but caestus gauntlets go along the idea of being faster than a sword, with roughly the same damage, but at the expense of not doing knockback (and also scaling with unarmed, if possible)
YumiEneka: first level is crafted like this, and its simply caestus gauntlets, probably hits a little bit slower than basic fists, does 1 damage, and no knockback (none of them do, so im not going to continue specifying)
YumiEneka: (as they go up in quality it probably makes sense for them to hit at least a little bit slower, simply because its heavier material, but i wont complain if it doesnt)
YumiEneka: then comes in the studded caestus, adding two iron ingots to the recipe for one extra damage, and nothing else

YumiEneka: up next comes iron caestus, likely best doing 4 damage because of its sudden spike in crafting cost, and since its made entirely of iron, probably slower too
YumiEneka: gold would likely stick with the theme of the rest of gold tools, doing 3 damage probably, to fill the gap between studded and iron likely as fast as regular fists (possibly slower but definitely faster than iron caestus)
YumiEneka: and i feel like its probably self explanatory what comes after gold but diamond would do , maybe 6 damage
YumiEneka: and for the outrageously high crafting cost, netherite caestus would probably be best doing 8 damage, perhaps even 9
YumiEneka: (also the reason i say "probably" so much is because even while im sure of these things its really not up to me)
Axo/Francium215: maybe make it so it can be upgraded the same way as backpacks
Hoots: I think we had a suggestion similar to this in the past (short sword, fast attack speed traded for damage) and I believe the biggest concern was if we wanted to add this not if we could
Hoots: I'm sure this is possible, aside from maybe enchants working, it's just a lot of effort put onto our admins only for an alternative weapon option
Hoots: adding this would also replace some benefits of unarmed leveling, if not stacking ontop of it making it very overpowered

YumiEneka: true, this suggestion was before i knew that levelling unarmed gave you more damage, but perhaps all the damage numbers could be decreased and they stay there as an option past level 100 perhaps
Hoots: Seems unnecessary to replace leveling rewards with a weapon, would make leveling even more difficult without it.
griffincodes: I agree with everything hoots has said, on top of not even being sure this is possible without modifying mcmmo directly, which we do not want to do. Appreciate the detailed suggestion, but we won't be implementing this, sorry.
