DeathWish: what if they rework the chests and make them not a block entity? just replace the chest with a duplicate barrel script work with the same skin? so everyone would universally use the barrel as a chest and never know the difference?
Griffin: Not sure that ^ is possible, pretty sure we'd still have to use barrels, and just store the items ourselves. I looked for a plugin that would do this, but the only updated one I found was one that would wipe existing contents of barrels when installed. So we'll have to make it ourselves. It may take some time for this to get to the top of the priority list.
keyholes: just adding that if you do this, it'd be really helpful if the 'big barrels' didn't work as a job block for villagers, like default barrels do. otherwise trying to assign job roles anywhere near storage would be impossible. love this idea though! I'd happily convert my storage.
Aearost // toku: ^very good addition!!! I love this idea a lot 🙂 Let me know if this is in the works as sooner than later, I'll be making a pretty large storage space and I'd like to make it with whichever is most efficient 🙂
Blast: Barrels now are the size of double chests, we didn't change job blocks as we just increased it's default size.

Rahamza: This idea came from a different server, and I thought would be amazing to see on here.
A little suggestion to add to kickstart off 1.19:
Allow barrels to have a storage capacity similar to that of a double chest. Why make this suggestion?
Because, Having barrels instead of chests can help save an exceptional amount of performances issues.
As chests are block entities, they can create an awful lot of performance issues in mass numbers. And given our hoarding tendencies and massive storage halls, I think having these can prevent these issues and allow people to store things without the noticeable frame-rate drop. As barrels, aren't block entities.
And hey, the more we can prevent excessive use of entities, the better!
And since we have recently gone over to 1.19 and started fresh, having these would give it even more use then before, and keeps the servers chest free.
I do think that if these were to be added in, they would make a lasting change for the better. As this idea came from a diff server. The results there were outstanding to say the least: Overall less performance issues, widespread use and a lasting improvement.
I do hope that this idea gets reviewed and added in, as this is an amazing improvement and quality of life addition, both for the community and the server performance.
