Only thing I don't like about it is the clutter of entries although it gets a bit better once it memorizes the frequently used apps. Also no application icons is a bit sad, but it maybe fixable/configurable. That said it integrates with the overall vibe better than wofi does, so I wouldn't mind seeing it as default
I know sway-launcher-desktop
is tiny, but it is extremely limited. We need some GUI way how to communicate with users for some tools, which are useful for a user of the GUI destkop.
I would suggest rofi (package rofi-wayland
for Sway), because it allows us to use many utils, which are helpful:
sway-launcher-desktop
does)It is of course possible for the user to install his own modes for rofi:
Actually, https://git.sr.ht/~mcepl/pinentry-rofi has been working for me for the last months or so without problems. When https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1201564 gets resolved and we can enable those units per default, the whole things seems to work.
I guess, again, I am the only who sees a problem here, so this could be probably closed.
we can leave it open, I won't object changing the launcher with something better, just send the PR first and we close this ticket afterwards. @sfalken since you were the one to suggest sway-launcher, what do you think?
I have zero objection to a different launcher, if somebody wants to work something up. sway-launcher-desktop was just easy, I like easy.
sway-launcher-desktop seems to do what we need, with a minimum of fuss and muss, we just need to work on the default config a bit
