New Chapter Request - XIAN #50

Hi ProtoSchool,

I would like to start a ProtoSchool chapter for Xi An of China.

Introduce Yourself I am one of the Founders of Lianwen Community which focus on blockchain knowledge education and combating with fraud. With even basic blockchain basic knowledge education, over 30,000 people has benefited from it in Western China. We believe consistent knowledge education will effectively avoid people suffering from fraud blockchain projects.

Co-Organizers AMT Community, one of the basic practical public chain with a strong and experienced team which has developed more than 900 dAPP in the bear market. As a landmark city in Western China - Xi An has adequate educational resources and a wide range of radiation. There will be a lot of room for future development. We will gradually participate in organizing various social activities to jointly explore and develop more blockchain application scenarios, and encourage more people of insight to participate in this wave of technological reforms.

@happyipfs Thanks for your interest in starting a ProtoSchool chapter. Could you please share more about yourself personally and share links to websites for the AMT and Lianwen Communities?

@happyipfs Are you still interested in leading a ProtoSchool chapter? If so, would you mind sharing more about yourself personally (since chapters are led by individuals as opposed to organizations) and share links to websites for the AMT and Lianwen Communities so we can learn more?

@happyipfs Just circling around again as I haven't heard from you over the past few months and we have another organizer interested in leading a ProtoSchool chapter in XiAn. (#59) Looking forward to learning more about the AMT and Lianwen Communities if you're still interested. If I don't hear from you over the next few days, I'll close out this request.

Since I know you're interested in blockchain, I also wanted to call out that ProtoSchool does not offer any blockchain content at present. We're focused on IPFS, which does not involve blockchain, and expect in the future to add some content on Filecoin, which does, but our scope will remain focused on distributed web protocols more generally, not specifically blockchain or cryptocurrencies. Please let me know if you have questions!

Good to hear from you again @happyipfs. I've had trouble finding resources about Lianwen Community or AMT Community so I'd love it if you could provide links so we can learn more.

I'd also love to learn more about you personally since our ProtoSchool chapters are led by individuals (not organizations) who take personal responsibility for creating a welcoming environment and enforcing our Code of Conduct.

We've received another request to start a Xi An chapter recently from @lindensys. Perhaps you would be open to the possibility of working together to lead a single ProtoSchool chapter in Xi'An? My assumption is that consolidating efforts would make it easiest build a unified community, and that your skill sets in various aspects of the decentralized web would enable you easily approach a variety of topics from IPFS to blockchain once there's more content on the site. (Note that we are solely focused on dweb currently, not blockchain.) Perhaps your events could be cross-posted on multiple meetup groups to help drive attendance?

We’re currently in the process of doing some user research and redesigning the way we support local event leaders so that we can provide great educational resources to a broader number of volunteers in a more straightforward and scalable manner, including allowing multiple groups in the same city to share our content. It’s our intention to roll out some new tools and guidance in Q1 of 2020 once we’ve had a chance to do our research and get our plans in order.
