While not quite fully integrating it, I had a similar suggestion on a more seamless integration of SimpleLogin into the ProtonMail apps (much of which could be achieved client-side on the app): https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/46553482-simplelogin-seamless-integration-for-email-alias-r

@zlianon and @alexhk90, regardless of how it appears to the user, I'd integrate with addy.io under the hood rather than SimpleLogin.
As Proton already own SimpleLogin, it would make sense to more seamlessly integrate that first as it could be a selling point for the paid subscriptions. Thanks for the note on addy.io though, @RokeJulianLockhart , always good to learn about other open source alternatives.
Even when using Pass aliases made directly via ProtonMail, writing a reply from an alias email is showing the real proton email in the From field instead of the alias. This is confusing, and makes one afraid of replying and leaking their real email.

It bugs me that when replying to an email sent to a PM alias, ProtonMail will show the reply is coming from your base account, and not the alias, even though it's actually going out from the alias. I wish they'd fix that. I don't want to rely on faith. The reply will be shown as sent by the alias (the recipient will see that), but when you're composing the reply, the web interface shows it's being sent from your base email, which is incorrect and confusing. It leaves me wondering if it's working right
I would like to suggest a new feature that I believe would be beneficial for your users. Specifically, I am writing to suggest that ProtonMail should integrate email forwarding capabilities within the platform, rather than relying on a separate service like SimpleLogin.
While SimpleLogin is a great service that offers users the ability to create unlimited email aliases, there are several benefits to having this functionality integrated directly within ProtonMail. Firstly, by having email forwarding capabilities within the same platform, users would not need to rely on a separate service, making the process simpler and more streamlined.
Secondly, by having this functionality directly within ProtonMail, users would be able to manage all of their email communications from a single platform, rather than having to switch back and forth between different services. This would not only save time, but also make it easier to keep track of important emails and communications.
Overall, I believe that integrating email forwarding capabilities directly within ProtonMail would be a valuable feature for users and would help to improve the user experience. Thank you for your consideration of this feature request.
