Issue tracker is ONLY used for reporting bugs with technical details. "It doesn't work" or new features should be discussed with our customer support. Please use bug report function in Bridge or contact bridge@protonmail.ch.

The directory in the subject line grows constantly over days when protonmail-bridge is used on Arch linux along with neomutt as the email client.

Expected Behavior

I believe this directory is where protonmail-bridge stores a local copy of emails. It should only grow as much as the remote inbox grows, not disproportionately.

Current Behavior

I have reset protonmail-bridge at least three times now, both using the GUI and the CLI by deleting and re-adding my account. Every time I do this, the directory in question goes back down to 1.1 GB in size, but regrows to several GBs within days. Once it reached to 9.5 GB size. I reset the bridge today again since 5 days from the last reset, and the directory was about 7 GBs in size before the reset.

Possible Solution

I am using mbsync (part of isync package in linux) to sync my local inbox sync with my protonmail inbox through protonmail-bridge. Optimize protonmail-bridge to work in harmony with mbsync.

Steps to Reproduce

Hey @hakova do you keep bridge running forever as a service or do does it shutdown and restart with your user sessions?

LBeernaertProton commented 1 year ago

Were you also prompted to resync or got logged out in the past?

LBeernaertProton commented 11 months ago

@hakova do you still have issues on the latest version of bridge?

gbrener commented 1 month ago

I am experiencing the same issue, and the protonmail bridge desktop app says it is on the latest (non-beta) version. To answer the questions above: I typically keep the bridge running as a service, and it does not shutdown/restart unless I reboot. I was not prompted to resync in the past.
