Donkey Kong 64 won't create battery saves #1433

Open ale-reyes opened 3 years ago

ale-reyes commented 3 years ago

Dk64 will not create battery saves. Hitting the save button in the pause menu will ring the "OK!" sound byte, but quitting to title screen from the games own pause menu shows that all save slots are empty. Battery save folder also remains empty.

Save states are too unreliable to use as a main save option, and I'm actually stuck 2/3rds through the game because mine have corrupted audio.

I should note that someone in discord found an old forum post about this pertaining to Mupen64plus, they fixed it by changing the eeprom save type to 16kb in a config.ini. This setting is already set properly in my build of Provenance.

### Expected: Saving in-game to create in-game saves, and a file in the battery saves folder. ### Actual: Nothing. In-game save slots are empty and battery save folder is empty as if I didn't even try.

Reproduce:

  1. Try to save in-game

Looking into this.

Updated to Mupen 2.5.9 and still having this bug. We may not be able to fix if it's a core issue, though I would be surprised if this was broken in Mupen all over.

Can you test in another emulator like retroarch or OpenEMU and see if it works? I can try but will take a few days at least if it's up to me.
