Create Content Contribution Guidelines for the PVD Geeks Blog #38

Type of Change

Summary

Create community guidelines and structure for submitting blog content to make it easier for community members to submit information and PVD Geeks leaders to review and post in a timely manner.

Done= Guidelines that cover the following items:

  1. Overall Best Practices- Shared reminders for ensuring a high quality submission.
  2. Guidance and Checklists of required info for: a. Written Blog Post- Framework for information, character limits, inclusion of photos, etc. b. Video- Best practices, time limit, generally accepted topics
    1. Submission process a. Potential options include email, Google Form, slack message? Preference towards google form.
  3. Community Standards a. to reinforce standards outlined through the OSS community regarding accessibility, respect, and a culture of learning.

Couple thoughts

  1. For guidance and checklists, are there any sorts of content that would be favored / not favored? What contributions are we looking for essentially?
  2. Maybe we could provide an example of "high quality" post? I think @ekrasner1 could definitely provide some solid insights here.
  3. I wonder if there would be interest in working directly with certain community members to get authorship rights in the PVD Geeks WordPress, maybe after they've contributed a couple times and collaborated with @bjepson / @mobilejoel ) ? One thought is formatting of text / images, which may not translate well from one format (markdown / WYSIWYG) to WordPress' version of WYSIWYIG. These users would of course have limited permissions / access within the WP system.
