higher voltage fan info #37

going through the make prints better page I found this: You will likely fail self test until a method is found to monitor RPM with these higher voltage fans.

any more info on the why of this? Is the signal from the tach too high of a voltage?

my thoughts are the existing rpm tracking is defective already. based on some quick testing I did. shown in this PR: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/pull/1193#issuecomment-428044286

Is it possible to do this mod and have different voltages per fan? https://github.com/PrusaOwners/prusaowners/blob/master/Einsy_fan_voltage_mod.md

IE: I have a 24 blower on its way and want to keep the 5v noctua until I decide on what to replace it with, without going deaf. Can I use a buck converter since the hotend fan is typically 100% anyway?
