Apparently the login server only takes a password of a set length, this is however not a restriction present on the website where you sign up. This meant that I made an account with a long password and I was unable to log in (into the WotLK client), since the password wasn't recognized as it was too long. Also, I could not make use of the change password or e-mail functions on the website.
