Sometimes after a search of a single field, like below, I go back to search using smartsearch. I type in the query and get 0 results because I still have data in the field from my previous search. Noticing that, I go to clear the field, but the garbage can doesn't clear it. You can use the "Clear" term instead, but that also clears the smartsearch field, so I have to reenter it.
The garbage can seems singularly designed to throw away a field. But when there's only one field showing, it should instead work as to clear the field. Otherwise, it's there but just does nothing. On a positive note though at least it's grayed when there's only one field. Still when there's only one field, it's harder to tell it's "grayed".

Very minor (but still annoying) issue.
