Public-Tree-Map / public-tree-map

Public Tree Map documents all ~35,000 public street and park trees in Santa Monica's urban forest. The map includes contextual information collected from open datasets and digitized city records. To reflect tree plantings and removals, the map updates every day. We're also working to add tree data from other cities in LA county. Work in progress:

review color palettes #150

Open emillipede opened 5 years ago

each view has defined color palettes. the colors and scales could use a little work

could we group tree colors by taxonomy (eg all pea species are different shades of the same color)?

(right now, the palettes for family and species views are automatically generated)

if you're new to the project: please take a look at the colors and let us know which palettes do and don't make sense to you!

@ian-r-rose @trevordavidthomas do you think it'd be worthwhile for me to try out manually assigning colors to families?
