Public-Tree-Map / public-tree-map

Public Tree Map documents all ~35,000 public street and park trees in Santa Monica's urban forest. The map includes contextual information collected from open datasets and digitized city records. To reflect tree plantings and removals, the map updates every day. We're also working to add tree data from other cities in LA county. Work in progress:

report link: copy information to clipboard onclick, initial setup #275

resolves #63

What I did

The report link now copies the address and tree id to system clipboard on user click, before opening the city website

works on chrome desktop and iOS, but I haven't test it extensively

not yet set up for vacant sites

Should we also: -display a pop-up telling user information is copied, they can paste directly into the city work form (need some design mock up for this) -set a delay on opening the new window (around 3s?)

thank you for finding a way to offer this option @mrtmrt233! while we can't directly connect to the city serve, the copied information will help users report tree problems.

I'm not sure how to best organize the interaction for users. I'll get in touch with the design volunteer to ask for input. I think itmight be easiest for a user to understand the process if they click a separate button to copy the information, but that seems like a clunky way to go about it. maybe a hover or a pop up would work better.

thank you again!
