2 months ago The main concern is ensuring that we comply with WCAG Timing Adjustable.
- the library should allow dev to configure placing as well as style.
- toasts should have a close button. Aria-label/alt text for close button should be "close alert".
- have this library configurable so that when toast appears focus goes to the toast message (so it needs tabindex="-1", so we can do
toastMessageEl.focus()in Javascript). If focus leaves the toast, it disappears (and goes into alert accumulator) - toasts should stay visible until manually closed or if a few accumulate (we can say there is only one toast at time visible).
- dev should configure if there is an alert area where toast messages accumulate after they disappear (like facebook)
- a way to show priority/type messages (error, warning, important, etc).
- ensure this module is tested with text zoom.
Want an implementation of accessible toast messaging. This should ensure that the toast doesn't disappear after a set length of time. Perhaps it may disappear and be moved to a notification area on the page (like Facebook does).
This requires investigation and discussion with the Accessibility CoE team.
