Possible solution for people having problems using BedrockConnect on PS5 #339

What happened?

This isn't exactly a bug, more of a solution I have found to fix my specific problem.

I'm a PS5 user, and I was able to get BedrockConnect working the "intended" way. (by setting one of the public DNS servers followed by a regular one, in my case 8.8.4.4)

However, coming back to it today, I was hitting a roadblock. Setting the same configuration and following every steps in the troubleshooting didn't seem to fix my problem.

The only time I had some sort of progress was whenever I setup the DNS servers again, I could catch a glimpse of the custom servers inside the server list (as in, see the "Join To Open Server List" message on most of the servers), however it would only last for a couple seconds before reverting to the original server address and MOTD.

Expected Behaviour?

The solution I found was to set both primary and secondary DNS addresses to BedrockConnect ones. I figured that, whenever I had the 8.8.4.4 one, maybe it had a better connection, and would therefore take priority for some reason?

Steps to reproduce.

Since I'm in North America and on PS5, I have opted for both of these addresses:

Primary BedrockConnect DNS (NA) Primary DNS: 173.82.100.84

Another BedrockConnect DNS (EU) Secondary DNS: 188.165.49.178

Wow I think you cracked it, I couldnt get this menu to pop up then I set both the primary and secondary DNS addresses to the NA servers and I got it to show up for the first time. Big brain on xbox series x btw Edit: I was only able to do this once tried like 50 times after and couldnt get it to come back

Have you tried setting other DNS addresses?

Since a DNS server is only used to route you to your destination, I think the only downside to using an EU DNS server is the initial loading time (the time for your request to reach the DNS server and receive the IP address you want to reach), and I've been using streaming services despite having these DNS servers without noticeable delay at all.

That's why I've decided to put 2 drastically different DNS addresses! Although I haven't tried 2 DNS addresses from NA at once, that might be the problem in some way. I hope this can help your problem!
