New Bedrock Version 1.19.52.01

Release Notes:

kmpoppe commented 1 year ago

No Minecraft FAQ entry yet...

pstreef commented 1 year ago

Public instances seem to give timeouts or outdated server responses, same for a local running instance. Can we assume this is because of this new version and we need to wait on this FAQ to be updated?

I would give more info if helpful but you are probably miles ahead of me anyway.

Hey @pstreef, thanks for asking.

Sadly, there's still no info to be found for 1.19.52, even though it's a downloadable version. I haven't heard from the @Camotoy, who's the wizard of all the protocol shenanigans going on in Bedrock Connect.

Feel free to upload any error information you have.

Hi @kmpoppe

I've ran the version from master in docker and gotten the same error as in an older issue: https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect/issues/304

I'm doubting about the resolution provided there as I expect that they were running a docker container with both the server and bedrock connect, because as far as I could see there is no actual server jar in the repo/container.

The client complained about an out of date server.

We are expecting 1.19.60 to be released tomorrow, which we have already prepared to be merged.

We might not be able to remedy 1.19.52 as there are no further protocol information available.

Our main instance is currently experiencing some issues, so that would be why that one is timing out. Currently working on getting it functioning again. I'm not seeing any outdated server errors though. Was the outdated error coming from one of the other servers under the "Publicly available BedrockConnect instances" section in the README?

pstreef commented 1 year ago

Yes, I tried 2 different ones (the ones by kmpoppe). Although the response is the same as running latest from repo (docker) so I assumed all are the same. Are any of the other instances working as expected? Or is this a local issue on my side?

Pugmatt commented 1 year ago

kmpoppe's instances I believe don't include the DNS, so you can't set those two through your DNS settings. The others ones listed should be work as intended. For the main instance (104.238.130.180), I can confirm that me, and other users according the server log are able to connect, so I believe it might be a local issue.

That being said, the 1.19.60 update dropped today, so some of the instances under "Publicly available BedrockConnect instances" might be giving outdated server errors now. I can confirm though that the main instance is updated and working.

If your local version is on the latest version (Note that a new version dropped today for 1.19.60), and timing out, that could be a number of things. Something is causing the game console to not make a connection to the local server, so that could be a firewall issue possibly.

pstreef commented 1 year ago

That's correct but I've been using my own DNS.

After the update yesterday I rebuild and locally it works now. Same for (some of) the public instances.

Thx! You made my son very happy 😁
