subscribe button changes #38

Made changes to the "Subscribe to our mailing list here" buttons (2 ea., classes "button.subscribe" and "button.subscribe-bottom") so they work in Firefox for opening the modal Subscribe dialog (tested changes in Chrome and Edge to make sure the buttons still work there as before), see comment on Pursuance Issue #175 Improve Firefox compatibility.

Also made some changes to style.css -- background gradient, text shadow, and hover -- which need review and approval before merging.

Also removed the plain text sign-up link for the dialog since the buttons, hopefully, should work on all the major browsers/platforms.
