Cold War DDGs and CGs Leahy CGs and Belknap CGs and CGNs of the 70s and 80s
Weapons Carried
Leahy Class carried a Magazine of 80 weapons (RIM-2 Terrier with a mix in the complement of 4 to 6 BT(N) Nuclear versions.
Belknap Class carried a Magazine of 80 weapons (RIM-2 Terrier with a mix in the complement of 4 to 6 BT(N) Nuclear versions.
Farragut Class or Coontz Class carried a magazine of 40
Also the SM-2 missile was slat to carry a Nuclear Warhead, the W81. The W81 was a planned American warhead to be mounted on the SM-2 surface-to-air missile used by the United States Navy. The W81 was believed to be derived from the B61 nuclear bomb which forms the backbone of the current US nuclear gravity bomb arsenal and from which the W80 cruise missile warhead is derived. The weapon was being designed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (at the time called Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory).[1]
This was to complement the ships that could not launch the Extended range missile (BT(N) version and give them a nuclear SAM capability.
My request is to see if you can add these to the Database 3000 to be used hypotheticlly because I was based on these vessels and whan I build a sce. i like to add one or two of these legacy ships to the mix because I miss them and really what is the Navy without a nuclear SAM capability? It leaves it short handed. You did this with the B53 bomb and the B-70 bomber and its nice to have these older systems around to throw in there it just brings back fond memories
