Other Changes

I'm not sure precisely when this upgrade happened or how extensive it was. I've seen at least three aircraft with the ventral lump (801, 805, 809) and at least four with the RIMS (801, 807, 809 and you can see where it's been removed on 805). There are claims that this was an experimental programme only, but four aircraft is a quarter of the fleet. I expect that it happened at around the same time as Mirage F.1 received the upgrade, perhaps slightly later.

Sources

A more image based one, this time: image Empty sensor mounts above rudder, enlarged ventral lump under tail. image A better view of the lump, assessed as a CMDS. image How the underside 'should' look. image Another aircraft with the lump. image New sensors fore and aft (1990)

Way more complicated than this, will resubmit later with the correct information.
