South African Canberra Updates #3866

Open FrangibleCover opened 1 year ago

FrangibleCover commented 1 year ago

DB Selector

Both

Affected DBID(s)

DB3k Aircraft 677, CWDB Aircraft 526

Summary of Changes

Nearly done, just the Buccs to do after this.

Platform Modifications:

New Aircraft:

I can't work out when Alpha Bomblets entered SAAF service but I'm going to go with 1980 on the dot to avoid creating a new Canberra variant in either DB that turns out not to be needed. The T.4 'trainers' seem to have been used in strike roles in exactly the same way as the bomber types.

Revised Loadouts

For all:

All Canberra B(I).12:

All Canberra T.4:

All DB3k:

1983 variants:

1983 B(I).12 only:

1983 Canberra T.4 only:

Canberra Gun Pack consists of 4x Hispano Mk.5 each with 500 rounds carried in the bomb bay. It's currently misrepresented in CWDB, so change Aircraft 792 while you're in there, it has an incredible 5000 rounds aboard.

Canberra Recce Pack consists of a fan of 3-5 cameras, plus a WFOV camera, plus occasionally a high zoom camera that was hard to aim. Probably just give it left and right arcs?

f9d02c8d51b257f66f52e3e50d2194027b1c61fd I've just found this but I'm not sure it's worth doing a whole 1985 variant and a dozen loadouts just to represent the use of the South African made Mk.80 series bombs on Canberra. If this is wanted I can try and get more info. Also visible under the wings (the buff coloured bits) are the countermeasure dispenser modules.
