The D&I Friendly Chat is an online meetup where Python Community Leaders from around the world will share the news happening in their area. This first event will take place January 31, 2023 at 12:00UTC.
On January 31st, join us to find out what the PSF does, the ways that it helps community members all over the world, and the many ways in which you can help achieve our goals, even if you’re not a Python coding expert.
The meetup also aims to teach more folks about the PSF and its role in the community. When asked about the event. D&I Workgroup Chair Marlene Manghami told us
In the call we’ll be sharing general community updates from the global python community. We’ll also be sharing the latest stats about community demographics and sharing some CTA’s for the upcoming PSF election. We’re also inviting people to come and ask any questions or share any issues they are having related to D&I in the Python community.
Sponsored by the PSF, the D&I Workgroup was formed in 2020 after concerns over geographical representation on the Board were raised. In the announcement post, the workgroup's purpose was established to "advise on how to increase diversity and inclusion on a global scale in the Python community".
This meetup is the first of a quarterly chat, and the scheduled speakers, made of PSF and Workgroup leadership, can be found on the registration alongside the agenda.
Python Community News plans to provide a recap of this event.
