GitHub Universe happened earlier this week. During the keynote several new features were announced, but one that we learned more about this week was Hey Github, a voice activated code assistant designed with work with modern code editors and IDEs.
The Code Repository Hub launched a Code Assistant in 2021 that uses GPT-3 to provide code snippets learned from existing code and code stored on the site.
This year they announced enabling voice activation with the goal of making the writing of code more accessible for more people.
"With the power of your voice we're excited to bring the benefits of copilot to even more developers." Said GitHub Developer Advocate Rizèl Scarlett during the opening Keynote "GitHub is renewing a division of being the home for all developers this is just one of the steps we are taking to make this a reality."
You can signup to request access to Hey Github now on the githubnext website.
During the show - Jay used this news to ask Jon what could Python do to make Python more accessible to everyone?
