This is a very professional and interesting topic. Apparently there is much to do on it too.

  1. You have a very organized thought about how to present your work, which is definitely helpful for the audience. But do present your motivation, your research goal and basic picture/background at the beginning.
  2. Because you're using so many data sets, it would be more interesting if you use shiny and make them interactive as you planned. Obviously there will be many subjects including firms, companies from different parties, regions, etc. How to merge and present all this information is a tough task. If you want to use shiny, make sure the categories are straightforward and informative.
  3. It seems that you won't use text mining technique in your project, which is fine. But a word/tag cloud from twitter might be a good start to lead people into political topics. But I think your idea is complete enough. Looking forward to your project!
