In Servlet 3.0 configuration, the 
org.omnifaces.facesviews.FacesViewsInitializerListener must be defined before 
com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener. 

This doesn't appear in the documentation but it's very important because 
otherwise the physical location of the files couldn't be resolved.

This was indeed a known issue and fixed in current 1.4 snapshot as per issue 
125.
