If you don't want it to zoom the menus, set the setting to "Do not adapt" (or
-1, which does the same)...
This setting applies in addition to the pixel scaler, so I think you must have
a pixel scaler like Triple where the entire window iz zoomed x3 already. It can
then start "menu zooming" if the window reaches at least 1600x1200 (320x3x2 *
200x3x2). If your screen is actually 1920x1200, I'm not surprised if the height
1200 can only be reached by maximizing, because dragging window edges tend to
always leave a single pixel border.

The problem (discussed over IRC) is :
- In windowed mode the system always figures out a way to make the menu look square, even when using a "wide" display mode
- in maximized mode, however, the menu is wide, whereas it could be square.
I had no time to try it myself, however.
It's also worth noting that this is on linux and with a dual-head display,
which might be part of the problem (or maybe not). GrafX2 is maximized to only
one of the two screens.

I doubt the dual-head display is part of the problem, because when I tried it
in XP I used VirtualBox, with only one guest screen. When shrinking the virtual
screen (emulating a lower resolution) the problem dissapeared. (The UI aspect
ratio no longer changed when maximizing.)
I also want to repeat that this is a very minor issue; the software is still
fully usable and no functions are affected. Maybe the priority on this one
should be set to low.

Sure. That's no worry right now however, we just released version 2.4 and we've
not decided yet what 2.5 will be made of. Not so much new features to work on,
as GrafX2 matures.
