Which version of android are you using? Which version of vCardIO?
Can you generate a minimal VCF file that reproduces this behavior? Try copying
the
backup.vcf from the sd card to your computer and remove all but one contact
(one that
has an icon) from the VCF file using a text editor (a complete contact starts
with
BEGIN:VCARD and ends with END:VCARD).
1. Does the exported contact have a PHOTO line?
2. If so, try deleting the contact and then importing the edited VCF file.
3. If it still doesn't work, try changing the "N" and "X-IRMC-LUID" fields in
the VCF
file. When you import it should create a new contact with a new name. Does this
contact have an icon?
4. If not, could you attach the VCF file so that I can try to reproduce the
problem
(change identifiable fields in the VCF file first, to protect your privacy)?

I experienced the same problem after using vcardio, i don't have a test case but
provide my workaround if anyone else are affected.
My workaround was to delete the contacts store (Home -> Settings ->
Applications ->
Manage applications -> Contacts Storage -> Clear data) and resync with Google.
Deleting all Gmail contacts from web, then forcing a sync on the Magic, then
reimporting everything in Gmail and forcing another sync didn't solve the issue.
Likewise contacts created after the vcardio sync also couldn't save icons (or
icon was
stored under another contact).

I have the same problem. Android 1.5 and vcardio-0.11.
After importing contacts by vcardio it is not possible change contact icon. I
tried
delete from backup.vcf all photos but it did not help.
So, after using vcardio I can not add, delete or change contact icon.
