quansight.github.io

a team centric portal into the quansight brands. since team members create the interfaces between quansight and labs we will use this page to establish explicit relationships between the two.

open source all✨stars

this site takes pride in the members of quansight and we showcase their abilities, and cumulatively our abilities. the quansight brand colors and logos will be used, and they will be complimented the quansight's all✨stars.

outline

below is the outline of a single page website that is minimal and bold.

  1. quansight open source all✨stars

    1. consulting

      • the high-level open source projects we work with
      • qhub
      • wins!
      • help?
    2. team

      1. cumulative organizations we belong to.
      2. links to readme profiles. we encourage the organization to create their readmes. hopefully leadership can do this to encourage others.
      3. some visualization, statistics, something
    3. media aggregation of the quansight and quansight labs blogs

    4. labs

      • the core, low-level projects we sustain and support

      • funding

        • gotta give a shout out to the homies!
      • communities

        • an aggregated calendar of open source community events as a resource for us and others.

What is the purpose of this site? It looks like it's just duplicating content from the main Quansight or Quansight Labs sites, except with missing information compared to the original (like the list of projects on the Quansight Labs site is much more comprehensive than the list on quansight.github.io).

What is the purpose of this site?

... create the interfaces between quansight and labs we will use this page to establish explicit relationships between the two

It looks like it's just duplicating content from the main Quansight or Quansight Labs sites.

indeed it is duplicating content, there will not be missing information, it will be presented from a different position. a lot of quansight's value comes from its people and there are certain folks highlighted on either portal, but there are also the talented folks supporting different projects. these people are important to the relationships we build.

i'm approaching this as a data problem. it will be possible aggregate folks information from the github api. we can highlight projects they contribute to through the api. with this approach it will be possible to have an evergreen way of keeping our roster updated.

, except with missing information compared to the original (like the list of projects on the Quansight Labs site is much more comprehensive than the list on quansight.github.io).

the current site was me toying around and i'm sorry i made the mistake of deleting your content. it was an accident.

this issue is suggesting something fresh and new. since quansight.github.io is a canonical url we should probably use and it doesn't have to be the same, it can be different.

furthermore, through programs like the writers workshop we'll be creating content that doesn't necessarily fit quansight or labs, it is faster, smaller content about open source. when this content starts getting generated the quansight.github.io will highlight a lot of different positions on open source that is representative of the diversity in our organizations.

The 404.md is really not very helpful. It redirects to this page, calling it "the homepage", I would expect there to be a search facility there so I can find where the content has moved to or some kind of index of things hosted on this site. The 404 image is missing and shows the alt text "Constructocat by https://github.com/jasoncostello" instead.

thanks for the heads up matti. turns out there is a lot of work that needs to be done and 404 is one of the them.
