Steps to reproduce the behavior:

N/A

Expected behavior:

I should be able to use the MATE desktop environment in dom0.

Actual behavior:

I can't install MATE as it isn't documented and doesn't have a trusted window manager implementation.

General notes:

MATE would be super nice to have as it's a lot more featureful than XFCE, but not as intensive and splashy as KDE (which I personally find to be too much).

Thanks for maintaining Qubes, by the way!

This seems like a lot of effort to avoid turning-down the "splashiness" of KDE -- its very configurable.

So, I've started tinkering with this. Open tasks:

[ ] Trusted window manager
[ ] Fix the horrible menus
[ ] Move away from mate-screensaver even though it's 1000x prettier :(
[ ] Keep stripping more components (e.g. automounting)
