The standard database for bankruptcies is UCLA-LoPucki data: https://lopucki.law.ucla.edu/.

Hi Vlad, thanks for sharing the link. I took a look at it yesterday. I believe this dataset only covers large public companies, so we will likely not find much overlap with our sample. Also, the dataset is not free for download unless the school library subscribes to it. UBC library does not subscribe to it. If it is not available through Case Western or Georgetown libraries either, I think we will have to purchase an academic license for the data.

Hmm. We could buy it, if needed (assuming Georgetown unfreezes my research account). But public vs private is an issue. Let's see if other options are available.
