It's a compatibility issue with the latest nightlies. Hopefully I'll fix it during this week.
So it is a PP issue, and you plan a fix. Thank you. It's a minor annoyance, since a fix only takes a moment, but I constantly tinker with my configuration, and restart Australis a lot. I'll deal till you can get it ironed out.

I can't reproduce this anymore in the latest nightly, with CTR 1.1.4 and the latest beta of TPP (v.1.2.2.b2) at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-puzzle-piece/versions/. Could I ask you to please confirm if it's fixed for you as well or not? I ask because I haven't done anything specific about this issue yet, but I did change a few things in the meantime and might have fixed it by accident, so I'd like to confirm.

Alas, I'm still seeing it, on the latest Nightly with CTR 1.1.14 and TPP v1.2.2.b2. If I restart Nightly, I still have to disable/enable TPP to make it active. I'm running an assortment of other extensions (with some currently disabled). It's possible there's a conflict somewhere.
Application: Firefox 30.0a1 (20140223030204) Operating System: WINNT (x86-msvc)

That's quite a lot of extensions, so yeah it's possible it's a conflict somewhere. Could I ask you, when you have a few free minutes, to try and figure out which one it is? Even testing all of those I might not be able to figure it out which one it is myself, because it could be some setting-specific. I really need to ask you to try and disable them all and then re-enable them a few at a time until you figure out which is it.

I'll give it a shot when I have a few spare minutes. (That will not happen right away. It may take a day or so to get to it.) I'll probably create a fresh profile with CTR and TPP, then add things and see where it breaks.
Suggestions as to likely culprits?
(I have had many more extensions in the past. I'm actually cutting back on the number installed.)
From the top of my head I don't see any that could be more likely.
It shouldn't be any of mine (FindBar Tweak, OmniSidebar), or Tab Mix Plus, Download Manager Tweak, Classic Theme Restorer, Restartless Restart, or Stylish, as I use all of these.
I'm also currently working on another bug with NoScript and I don't see this issue, so I doubt that's it either.
But, like I said, if it's a specific setting enabled, it could still be any of those.
And I also use Location Bar Enhancer, so I doubt that's it either.
Also there's a newer version of Stylish Custom than what you have at, make sure you update it just to make sure.

Thanks for the heads up, and I'll grab it. I wish choggi would patch up whatever his differences are with AMO. Not having something auto-update is a PITA.
I just enabled every single add-on on that list to test them. My whole UI ended up being corrupted (probably by one of the add-ons that isn't compatible with Australis yet), but even then the puzzle piece was always responsive after restarts. I ended up having to reset my whole profile because of that, but like I said, TPP was always working ok.
So I guess you'll really have to figure out which add-on is it yourself. Maybe it's even something in your current profile that's doing it, some leftover or corruption. The only solution to that would be to create a new one.

Odd. The list as provided works for me, with the need to disable/enable TPP after restart the main quirk.
I ended up having to reset my whole profile because of that, but like I said, TPP was always working ok.
I do see another quirk: I used Customize to place Omnisidebar's icons to open/close left and right side sidebars on the extreme right of the URL bar. Boot Australis and they are there. Disable/enable TPP, and they disappear. No big issue, since mouseover of left/right browser margins works to provide a clickable open/close border, but curious.
(And one more minor quirk: when I go into Customize, I see a number of flexible spaces inserted to the right and sometimes left of the icons placed on the Addon bar. "Remove from menu" cleans them out, but I don't know what adds them. Might be an Australis bug.)
So I guess you'll really have to figure out which add-on is it yourself. Maybe it's even something in your current profile that's doing it, some leftover or corruption. The only solution to that would be to create a new one.
I'll play with that later. The underlying issue isn't serious enough to make me expend the effort right now. If/when I track it down I'll let you know what the problem child was.

Okay, I got curious and found it. No new profile needed - just disable everything but your list of known-goods, restart, then add things back and restart till it broke.
The culprit was All-in-One Sidebar. I'd left it in place because I was used to the interface and it didn't appear to conflict with OmniSidebar. (I use Omni for the option of having an additional sidebar open on the right side of the browser.)
Take All-in-One out and things behave as expected. (I assume the same would be true if I used All-in-One and disabled Omni. Two extensions affecting the same area of FF may step on each other's toes.)
Right now I've enabled TPP, CTR, AiOS and OSB and everything is working fine, even after restarting.
It could be a specific combination of settings for those add-ons. Only in AiOS you can go to its preferences and export them and paste/attach them here. The others you'll have to tell me which ones are enabled and disabled.
Or you could send me your prefs.js file by e-mail if you want, which contains all your preferences for all your add-ons, it's in your profile folder (it shouldn't contain any sensitive data by default, but if you're unsure you can give it a look over in any text editor and leave only the relevant preferences).

Disabled at the moment. Perhaps later.

I know what and where prefs.js is, and what it contains. There have been occasions in the past where I've manually diddled it in a text editor. I've been using Mozilla code since it was still a Netscape project, and have spelunked the config files and tweaked things outside of the GUI interface. One exercise I went through in the past was a common copy of my bookmarks shared between several profiles. That was easily doable when it was still an HTML file, but more complicated when things moved to SQLite.
Prefs.js is 502K here, and most of that is NoScript whitelist. I may stick a zipped copy of it on my Google Drive and send you a pointer.
That would be great. But no rush, whenever you have the time. :)
Has this ever happened again? (especially now with v1.3.3)

I've only had TPP 1.33 in place for a few hours. But IIRC, it hasn't. I think I would have raised the issue again on the existing bug report.
(Which reminds me, I need to look at the commits and see what all got fixed in 1.33...)
You can just read the release notes at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-puzzle-piece/versions/, anything that's not there is really not even worth mentioning. ;)
And in that case I'll close this issue for now. If it ever happens again please reopen it.
I've encountered a quirk with The Puzzle Piece. I'm not sure if it's a PP bug or a conflict with something else.
I use PP in conjunction with Aris' Classic theme Restorer in Firefox Australis. PP is configured to shrink to a corner at the bottom of the browser, and hide the addon bar automatically. In use, it appears if I mouse over the bottom of the browser, and does what I want it to do. I'm using the 1,21 version of PP and the current dev build of CTR.
The issue is on browser restart, which I do when a new Nightly update arrives or an addon update requires it. PP is inactive, and I must go to Addons Manager, and disable and enable it to make it active.
I'm not sure when this first surfaced: I seem to recall it didn't occur when I first discovered and installed PP.
Any suggestions for tracking down what's occurring?
Dennis
