Puzzle Piece not remembering Addon bar assignments #23

I've noticed an annoyance in the past week or so, and I'm not sure if it's a Puzzle Piece issue or an Australis problem.

I'm running Nightly, with more or less daily updates, and use The Puzzle Piece along with Aris's Classic Theme Restorer to tweak the Australis interface and bring back the Addon Bar. The Puzzle Piece is currently set to put the Addon Bar in the Location Bar.

The issue I'm encountering is that TPP doesn't remember Addon bar assignments. I use Customize to drag Addon icons I want on the Addon Bar to it, and all is well in that session. If I restart Nightly after an update, or exit it when done for the day and invoke it again in the morning, that Addon bar assignments are forgotten. Stuff that tries to add itself to the Status bar appears in TPP's Location Bar display. Everything else is back to default, and I must redo the Customize assignments. Just where does TPP store the configuration? It looks like it's either not properly preserved or is overwritten.

Suggestions for debugging? My environment is mostly unchanged from the last time I raised an issue.

Thanks!

Dennis

Are you using the latest version of TPP 1.3.3? If not you can find it at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-puzzle-piece/versions/, but let me know if you are or if that doesn't help.

And to answer your question, it's not TPP storing the placements you do in customize, it's the customize system itself, it recognizes (or should at least) the TPP add-on bar as a toolbar and manage just like any other toolbar.

"Are you using the latest version of TPP 1.3.3?" No. I didn't know it existed. The version I have installed is 1.22, and Check for Updates doesn't mention a newer one. I'll install it and see what happens.

And I suspected Customize might be at fault, but wasn't sure.

v1.3.3 hasn't been reviewed yet, because I've been uploading new versions with critical bugfixes for the past month and a half, and every time I do it is pushed back in AMO's review queue (every add-on/update needs to be reviewed by a mozilla reviewer before it's publicly available).

I've already contacted the AMO reviewers to see if they could prioritize the current TPP update, since it's been in the queue for a long time and the current public version is very (very!) buggy. I'm sorry about that, let me know if that helps.

I installed 1.33, and it seems to have fixed the reported issue. I've restarted Nightly several times, but selected Addons still appear in the Location Bar.

Not your fault if AMO is laggard in working through the queue. I'll just remember to check on AMO instead of relying on update notifications.

I'm glad the issue is fixed.

You shouldn't need to check AMO like that. Normally the updates are reviewed very fast, but because there are a lot of add-ons being updated because of Australis, the queues have been slower. Plus, I've released a lot of updates in rapid succession, which kept TPP getting pushed back in the queue. After this whole Australis ordeal has passed, everything should go back to normal.
