Was wondering if it would be possible to add additional toolbars?

This probably won't happen. Right now there is an area specifically meant for buttons and icons, which is where the current location bar's puzzle bar is placed. But there is nothing to the left of the location bar, it really doesn't expect there to be anything there, as its identity box (the box with the Github server identity info in this page for example) should always go hand-in-hand with the location url. Separating them with a toolbar in the middle would be... unwise, not to mention not as straightforward as it might appear.

additional Corner Toolbars; one for each corner?

At most there could only be a toolbar on the opposite bottom corner (these toolbars don't work at the top at all). But to be honest, this wouldn't be a priority right now, so don't hold your breadth. :)
