FYI: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/awesome-bar-search-firefox-bookmarks-history-tabs#w_changing-results-on-the-fly, it is powerful but difficult to remember.

For example provides an icon to display a tooltip with the filters, or provides a set of buttons or a dropdown list to toggle the filter currently in use.

I've considered it before, but I haven't added it yet because there's already AwesomeBar Power Tip (plus this being quite a lot of work to implement like you described).

Cool, looks it has implement my idea. If have a suitable design, integration this may be a good choice.

I've tried it, it is not perfect, the balloon should not appear when every time focusing, its better if demand only.
