I imagine this would be better kept always visible like before?
I think we should change the way to show the bar when it's very big.
There are already new styles in the new version 1.1, you can find it at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-fox-only-better/versions/ if you'd like to try it out. Please let me know if you think none of those really helps with this problem.
It looks much better :-)
Do you think those are enough, or should I still bring the hackbar out of the hiding toolbars and always visible at the top like before? (I don't use it, so I'm not sure how it would be more easily used/accessed).
Always visible will be better.Hackbar is a tool like firebug that is expected to be shown all the time when we are doing something. Is there already be a option to show certain bar?
No, but it's easy to make sure it stays visible. I'll add this enhancement for the next version.
Can you please try out this beta 1.1.1b1 and let me know what you think? I moved the hackBar to above the tabs (I thought it was weird to have it between the tabs and the content/other toolbars when they appear).
I wanted to upload it to AMO but the site is buggy today it seems, so I had to upload it to mediafire: https://www.mediafire.com/?o7h8jpvc9zdhxe4
On my computer... It looks worse...
There are three choices here, please let me know what's the best for you.
1: Keep the HackBar between the tabs and the content. I personally don't like this, I think it's a bit out of place there (takes quite a lot of eye movement to get from one place to another sometimes). Plus moving the mouse over the HackBar shows the navigation bar, which can be distracting.
2: Move the HackBar above the tabs (like in that screenshot) and try to fix it visually; basically try to get only its top buttons into the blue area, and the rest in the gray area. This will be a bit troublesome for other themes to fit properly, and also it doesn't get rid of the mouse-over-showing-navigation-toolbar distraction thing.
3: Move the HackBar to the bottom of the browser. This would be the best way to do it for me in terms of coding (easiest), and also it makes the most sense, since firefox's own developer toolbar is also on the bottom, so it kind of stays coherent that way. Also, mousing over it doesn't show the navigation toolbar.
I uploaded a new beta 1.1.1b2 with the 3rd option implemented to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-fox-only-better/versions/. Please let me know if you like it and if you can work with it that way.
For now, I'm moving the HackBar to the bottom of the window when Slim Chrome is enabled, it just seems easier to maintain and even more organized that way. Please re-open this issue if you disagree with this or run into any other related problems.
