Possibility to keep bookmarks visible. #79

Would it be possible to include the option to keep the bookmarks bar visible, while hiding the navigation bar?

Quicksaver commented 9 years ago

I don't think I will add this, only because it would increase the degree of complexity of the add-on too much for the very little benefit taken (as in very few people would take advantage of it).

Especially so because I can give you an alternative. You can install my other add-on Puzzle Toolbars and move the bookmarks items to its Top Toolbar, while disabling its option to include it in Slim Chrome. It should give you the functionality you're asking for.

Let me know if that doesn't work for you for some reason and I'll see what I can do then.

Fair enough. Puzzle Toolbar is very cool! Though I'm missing a Puzzle bar at the top (so it's basically where the bookmarks bar would be but won't be hidden). I also tried adding my bookmarks to the bottom bar, but it doesn't show the names of the bookmarks, only icons (which I dislike, especially for folders.) Did I miss something or is this by design?

It's by design, the puzzle toolbars don't show labels by default. But they should for bookmarks of course, I didn't consider that possibility, I will change this in the next version.

And you need to enable the top toolbar in the add-on's preferences, it's the only one that isn't enabled by default. :)

Aha, didn't see that. Thanks a lot!

I fixed the bookmarks items in beta version 2.0.1b4 of Puzzle Toolbars (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/puzzle-toolbars/versions/). Please try it out and open an issue in its github page if you run into any problems with it.
